Much of the time, we think that we know what is best for us. We make decisions without consulting others and then wonder if we can either turn back time (no) or make a different decision in its place. We don’t have to make decisions alone. We have guidance through the Lord and his Holy Spirit.
“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” Psalms 32:8-9 NLT
It’s hard at times to let go of control and not feel that we know what is best but when dating, it is important to put God first. When we put God and His Kingdom first, all other things are added unto us. Things like what you should wear when going out on a date is something very important to consult with God about. Why, because God knows what you need as oppose to what you may think you want. God knows what grabs your attention. It will have fruits of modesty and protection when we listen. Things like what to say and who to speak with, is guidance that the Holy Spirit will help with.
I know, I know… people of the world feel that they have needs and don’t want to miss out on an opportunity but trusting that God knows what is best for us is the best start of starting a new relationship
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
Remember that even when we don’t get it right, God knows what we need. Trust in the lord and lean not on your own understanding.
What accountability do you have in place in regards to dating?
