When I think of the things that I NEED, I think of the things listed above. The definition of essential is a thing that is absolutely necessary. I believe that God is essential. I believe that water 💦 and food are essential to live.
This time of isolation due to the COVID-19 has pushed this government and us to think about the things that are necessary to live and function as a society. While everyone’s thoughts on what is “essential” are different, it does bring to light what we hold as valuable to our lives. Jobs in healthcare, social work, law enforcement, teaching, and more that help others, are considered essential. I have been blessed to be able to continue to help others in my job.
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:36-40 NKJV
Loving God and others is essential and I think that if we make this a priority that everything else will be taken care of. We are all going to be ok.
