I donāt watch much television but if the television is on and I catch a commercial or two, this is enough for me. I am shocked at some of the things that are presented to homes with children watching. You never know what a commercial will present into your mind. Fear, sex, excitement, love, and beauty are all things that can be invited into your home with no notice. Society has shaped the idea of beauty in different ways and if you are not aware, you can find that the media can shape your perception of how you should act, dress and think. When i hear a friend tell me that they need to lose weight just because they want to look like someone one television (and not due to their health) it saddens me and I make it a point to let them know that they are beautiful for who God wants them to be.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us, āFor we are Godās masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.ā
When you think of the word, āmasterpieceā you think of an original piece of art that is unlike any other. Thatās what we are. We are unlike any other person in this world and only we can do what we were created for in the way that we would do it.
Wow, God knows all that we are capable of individually. He knows our strengths and areaās needed for growth so he places otherās around us so that we can learn and grow from, not so that we can wish that we were them or had what they have. God knows that I would listen in certain situations while my best friend would take certain actions in the same instance. This is what makes us masterpieces because we are different.
I encourage you to embrace your differences and trust what God says that you are instead of society and those around you. Donāt let anyone else tell you who you are because Godās word is true and already has.
Who does God say that you are?
