Two are better than one….” (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
When I have heard this, I initially thought of human strength. I pictured tug -of-war, with one person on one side and two people on the other side of a rope with a big puddle in the middle. Of course, the side with two will defeat the other side as there is twice as much strength, right; but now that I am in a community I recognize that this term is more of a phrase of having support.
God has blessed us all with someone that has impacted our lives in a positive way. There have been times that I have received a text from a friend when I needed it, or when I have been able to spend time with a friend that I haven’t seen in a while and this has been a great support to me. God is always with us and he wants us to grow in relationship with HIM and other believers. While it may seem like we can handle certain things alone, God wants us to form community and help each other.
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12
This month, I have had the privilege to celebrate birthdays, reunions, basketball games, pool time, success of my family, and spending quality time with the one of love. I am grateful for the good times and also thankful that I have a community for times when I am in need as there have also been times this month where I have cried and needed someone to talk to and have had a community to communicate and pray for and with me.
When you have the opportunity to celebrate someone, do it. When you have the opportunity to help/support someone, do it.
Do not ever think that your situation is too much to celebrate or too dark to pray for. You are important and God wants us to recognize that.
Who can you reach out to today?
